Captain Mike Davenport was promoted to Captain of the Support Services Bureau in April 2017. He began his career in law enforcement with Hays County as an emergency communications operator at The Hays County Sheriff’s Office in 1993. During his career with the sheriff’s office he has held the positions of emergency communications operator, patrol deputy, detective, patrol sergeant, patrol lieutenant, and Captain of both the Law Enforcement and Corrections Bureaus. He also served on the Hays County Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
As Captain of the Support Services Bureau he oversees various areas including, human resources, budget, information technology, communications, traffic, community outreach, school resource officers, animal control, training and building security at the Hays County Government Center. The Support Services Bureau employs over 80 people in these operational areas. Captain Davenport is attending Texas State University in the area of Criminal Justice.
