AUSTIN — This weekend, the Texas Department of Transportation will close Yarrington Road over I-35 north of San Marcos from Friday through Sunday nights, as part of the ongoing work to replace and upgrade the bridge crossing.

The bridge will be closed while workers prepare to shift traffic to the new bridge over the interstate. During the closure, drivers who want to cross I-35 will detour to other intersections north and south of the location. Motorists can use RM 150 in Kyle to the north and either the Blanco River turnaround or the River Ridge Parkway crossover to the south. The closure will run from 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, until 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10. Traffic on the I-35 mainlanes and frontage roads will not be affected during this closure.

Following the bridge closure, Yarrington Road east of I-35 will be closed from 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 through 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, to reconstruct the road to match the height of the new bridge. Traffic on the bridge and the interstate frontage roads will not be affected. Motorists can detour via SH 21 and RM 150 to reach I-35.

Road signs will be placed alerting drivers of the closure. Motorists should allow extra time to travel through this area during the affected hours. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
