Commissioners Court Proclaims January 18 as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Hays County

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Commissioners Court proclaimed January 18 as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Hays County, and encouraged area residents to join in the festivities planned for San Marcos and other areas of the county to encourage fulfillment of Martin Luther King’s vision of freedom, equality and opportunity for all people.

The birthday of this significant civil rights leader who inspired profound and lasting change in our nation will be celebrated with a program at the County Courthouse on January 18 at 10 a.m. followed by a walk to the Dunbar Center on MLK Street. The Courthouse is located at 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos.

Following the signing of the proclamation, Commissioners Court members, other elected officials and County staff, students and staff from Gary Job Corps, MLK Day event organizers and visitors to the Commissioners Court came together for a photograph to celebrate. Event organizers Rose Brooks and Ollie Giles hold the proclamation for all to enjoy.
