Hays County Commissioners Court Recognizes CTMC Surgeon Dr. Alcides Cairus

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – On Tuesday the Hays County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation recognizing the dedication and achievements of local surgeon Dr. Alcides Cairus, who is retiring after a long career at CTMC Medical Center.

Dr. Cairus, who has received many awards over the years for his professional and humanitarian accomplishments, was the first surgeon certified to perform robotic surgery between Austin and San Antonio.

Following the reading of the proclamation by Hays County Judge Bert Cobb, M.D., Dr. Cairus told the Court and visitors that he was “greatly honored and humbled” by the recognition and thanked CTMC, Live Oak Health Partners, medical staff and all those who made his success possible. He noted he had performed 13,000 surgeries during his 27-year career at CTMC.

Below, co-workers, family, friends and former patients of Dr. Cairus, holding the proclamation signed by the Commissioners Court, joined the Hays County Commissioners Court in recognizing the surgeon, who is retiring in June.
