February 29 Deadline Nears for Registration of Brands

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The registration deadline for livestock brands and marks is February 29. The State of Texas requires that livestock brands and marks be re-registered every 10 years or they become available for registration by others.

There are several ways to register a brand or mark with the Hays County Clerk’s Office. Visit the Clerk’s website at www.co.hays.tx.us and download a registration form. Once the form is notarized, mail it to the Clerk’s Office at 712 South Stagecoach Trail, 78666 along with a check. Stop by the Clerk’s Office to pick up or drop off a form, have it notarized on site, and pay in person by cash, check or credit card. The Clerk’s Office can also e-record a form submitted through a bank, Title Company or attorney’s office.

For more information, contact the County Clerk’s Office at 512.393.7330. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cost to register a brand is $16 per brand, per location.
