Hays County Recycling Centers

 

Items Accepted For Recycling at Hays County Recycling Centers

 

  • Plastics – Separate #1 & #2 Bottles (Only #1 & #2 bottles are accepted. Examples: water, soda, milk & laundry detergent). Remove lids and caps.
  • Glass: Only jars & bottles. Remove lids and caps.
  • Corrugated cardboard: Must be flattened and placed into baler. 
  • Newspaper, magazines, phonebooks, computer & fax printouts, junk mail and shredded papers are accepted. The different papers can be combined but must be bagged.
  • Tin cans: Rinsed out, flattened and placed into large marked blue container.
  • Aluminum cans: Rinsed out, flattened and placed into marked container.
  • Automobile batteries: Must be sealed and not leaking acid.
  • Used motor oil only - no brake fluid, gasoline, solvents, etc!
  • Used oil filters – must be drained and placed into the barrel marked “Used oil filters.
  • Used anti-freeze – must be poured into the barrel marked “Used anti-freeze.”
  • All empty containers of motor oil and anti-freeze must be thrown away in the correct trash can located by the oil recycling bins.

 

If Containers Are Full, Please, Notify Attendant

Chipboard (such as soda & beer cartons, cereal boxes, etc.)

Styrofoam™

Plastic bags

Plastics other than the bottles listed above (Our centers do not accept #3, #5, #7 or flat plastics such as fruit & deli containers, etc.)

April 6/Good Friday  November 21-23/Thanksgiving
May 28/Memorial Day  December 24-26/Christmas
