Information on permanent Job Postings

 

We have 3 positions that are permanent postings.  This allows us to work with an employment list.  The list is comprised of those that have completed the hiring process and waiting for a position to open.   Current Job Openings to get to information on these positions to include information on the pre-employment testing.

  • Deputy- you must have your Peace Officer License and be 21 years of age. 
  • Corrections Officer-you must be 21 years of age or older to apply.  
  • Emergency Communications Officer- You must be 18 year of age or older. 

 

Other requirements for each of these positions include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to clearly understand one-on-one conversations, communicate on the telephone, and to be aware of any situations or conversations going on in your peripheral space for public safety issues
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Vision acuity must be correctable to 20/20 in each eye

 

PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING

 

Deputy Required Testing Includes:

  • Physical Agility-Maximum time is four minutes and ten seconds (4:10) (If you do not pass the PT test, you are eligible to reapply in 6 months)
  • Exiting a patrol car, sprint approximately 300 yards, obstacle course, drag a 160lb dummy approximately 10 yards, sprint 30 yards to the trigger pull - five (5) trigger pulls with each hand (revolver- 10-12lb trigger pull)
  • Typing ( If you do not pass the typing portion you are eligible to reapply in 6 months)
    • Minimum of 21 WPM
  • Report Writing
    • You have 45 minutes to complete the writing exam
  • Written (If you do not pass, you can reapply in one year.)
  • 100 question written exam broken up into four timed sections. Must pass with a 70 or above. Sections include:  Vocabulary with Spelling and Grammar, Reading/Written Comprehension/Deductible Reasoning,  Memorization, and Math/Critical Thinking

 

Corrections Officer Required Testing includes:

  • Must be able to load 5 (five) rounds into a magazine and rack slide on a Glock one (1) time  
  • Physical Agility- Maximum time is one minute and thirty seconds (1:30) (If you do not pass the PT test, you are eligible to reapply in 6 months)
  • Sprint approximately 100 yards, carry a 30lb air pack weaving through 6 poles, drag a 160lb dummy approximately 10 yards, sprint approximately 30 yards carrying a weight, perform five (5) trigger pulls with each hand (revolver- 10-12lb trigger pull).
  • Typing (testing your skill only – no required WPM)
  • Written (If you do not pass, you can reapply in one year.)
  • 50 question General Knowledge timed test, which you must pass with a 70 or above.
  • Covers:  Vocabulary, spelling, grammar, reading/written comprehension, and math

 

Emergency Communications Officer Required Testing includes:

  • Criticall (a computerized based test) (Pass with an overall score of 70 or above and a typing speed of 30 WPM) (If you do not pass you can reapply in 6 months)
    • Tested on your memory retention, prioritization, ability to multi-task, decision making and typing speed.
    • Type a minimum 30 WPM.

 

Civilian Required Testing includes:

  • Written (If you do not pass, you can reapply in one year.)
  • 50 question General Knowledge timed test, which you must pass with a 70 or above.
  • Other tests may include typing, exercises, testing for vehicle maintenance, etc. depending upon the position.

 

Additional testing for each position may include psych assessment, drug/medical screening, TB, and fingerprints.
