Disaster Recovery Center Reopens at San Marcos Community Center, Joins Wimberley and Martindale Locations

The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center reopened Tuesday, August 11, at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins. It joins the DRCs at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 Ranch Road 12, and the Martindale Baptist Church, 12351 Hwy 142 (inside the church if the mobile unit is not there). The DRCs are open weekdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and are closed Sundays.

The deadline for applying for federal aid is August 27, 2015.

If you had any uninsured losses of real or personal property or expenses due to the storms, fill out an application at any DRC in Texas, call the registration line 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Central time (Sun-Sat) at 1-800-621-3362 (also for 711 relay or Video Relay Service), TTY is 1-800-462-7585, or register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. Residents – homeowners and renters – and business owners in Hays, Blanco, Caldwell or Guadalupe County who sustained losses such as damaged or lost property, out-of-pocket expenses caused by the disaster, medical and funeral expenses, etc., can apply for assistance.

Disaster Recovery Centers allow face-to-face application assistance with specialists from FEMA and other organizations. If you received a letter of ineligibility from FEMA, call or go by to have it explained to you and to find out what other assistance you might be eligible for. Some of the services available include guidance about disaster recovery, clarification of any written correspondence received, housing assistance and rental resource information, answers to questions, resolutions to problems and referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance, status of applications being processed by FEMA, SBA program information (low interest loans available to individuals and businesses who qualify) and disaster unemployment assistance.
