County Celebrates Completion of RM 12 Road Work with Ribbon-cutting
Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County Precinct 3 Commissioner Will Conley hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday to recognize the completion of various safety and mobility projects along RM 12 between San Marcos and the Junction of RM 32 near Wimberley.
Pointing to dramatic before-and-after photos, Conley said, “Before these improvement projects RM 12 had no shoulders, no turn lanes, and was the site of frequent head-on and rear-end collisions. Now drivers have the opportunity to move out of the way onto shoulders if necessary, and to use turn lanes that keep traffic moving smoothly and help prevent collisions.”
He noted that the RM 12 Safety Improvement Program succeeded because of the partnerships Hays County forged in identifying funding and cost-sharing opportunities. Funds for the improvements came from the 2008 voter-approved road bond, TxDOT and federal funds such as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and CAMPO.
“Having projects shovel-ready to be at the front of the line when funds become available is critical and we are fortunate to have a good working relationship with entities that can work with us quickly and closely,” he said.
