BR3T Welcomes World Renew to Assist Disaster Survivors in Unmet Needs Assessment
The Blanco River Regional Recovery Team (BR3T) today announced that World Renew will be conducting an “unmet needs” assessment for survivors of the Memorial Weekend flood and storms in Blanco, Caldwell, Guadalupe and Hays County from September 14 through September 25.
“We know that despite assistance provided by FEMA, SBA and the many volunteer groups such as the Austin Disaster Relief Network, Red Cross, Salvation Army and local organizations, many of those affected by the disaster are only recently understanding the full impact of their losses,” James Gabriel, Executive Director of BR3T, said. “World Renew is experienced in needs assessment and will be going door-to-door as well as staffing intake centers to help determine survivors’ unmet needs. It is the mission of the BR3T to assist those with unmet needs by helping with rebuilding, providing home furnishings, emotional and spiritual care or by providing volunteers to help residents in the four counties recover.”
Gabriel encouraged anyone affected by the disaster – whether they received other forms of assistance or not – who still have needs to meet with World Renew, whose volunteers will assist in filling out applications and explaining the review process.
World Renew will have an intake office in Blanco at 312 Pecan Street on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to Noon, Monday September 21 and Wednesday September 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The intake office in San Marcos at 801 W. MLK will be open Monday-Thursday September 14-17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday September 18 from Noon to 7 p.m., Saturday September 19 from 9 a.m. to Noon and Monday-Friday September 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Wimberley intake center at 200 Stillwater will be open 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday September 19 and Monday-Friday September 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (note change in dates from original posting).
No appointment is necessary.
Intake centers will have American Sign Language and Spanish language interpreters available upon request. World Renew volunteers going door-to-door will be wearing green shirts with a World Renew logo and have identification.
