Hays County Proclaims National Job Corps Day, Commissioners Court Thanks Gary Job Corps

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Commissioners Court on Tuesday proclaimed August 22 as National Job Corps Day in Hays County and thanked Gary Job Corps for nearly 50 years of service and dedication to training young people in leadership and careers.

According to the proclamation, in an average eight-month stay at Job Corps the vast majority of youth leave with a high school diploma or equivalency, improve their literacy by more than two grade levels and 75 percent of graduates secure employment or enter the military. Job Corps students and staff have contributed to their communities through millions of hours of community service nationwide.
