Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Arts Committee will host a reception February 19 to introduce the artists featured in its second exhibit at the Hays County Government Center. The public is invited.
“The response to our first exhibit was phenomenal and we are very excited about the artists and their works for our second show,” said Hays County Arts Committee Chair Kate Johnson. “We have been delighted by the quality and number of the responses to the Cultural Arts Program and we are looking forward to a large turnout at the reception the Committee is hosting to celebrate this exhibit.”
Artists whose work will be exhibited include Clay DeStefano, Debangana Banerjee, Diana Ost, Georgiana Chenault, Larry Alford, Malika Lia Acosta-Van Kleef, Mikiko Kudo, Robert Gottschall, Ruben Pena, Tom Bender and Veronique Hahn.
The Arts Committee plans to rotate the exhibit approximately every four months and will issue a new call for artists as necessary,” said committee member Linda Coker, who helped develop the exhibit guidelines and the call for artists. “We’re encouraging all artists who reside in Hays County to consider applying during the next call,” she said. The guidelines are available on the County website at www.co.hays.tx.us, under the Community drop-down tab.
The free exhibit reception, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 19, will include hors d’oeuvres and an opportunity to chat with artists whose paintings are featured. The public can also view the paintings during regular Government Center hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding official County holidays. The Government Center is located at 712 S. Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos, on the north side of Wonder World Drive near the railroad overpass at I-35.
