Hays County Solid Waste Disposal

Hays County operates disposal sites in conjunction with our Recycling Centers for the convenience of Hays County residents to help keep our County trash-free. Hays County is dedicated to responsible disposal and recycling.

Hazardous materials are not accepted at Hays County Solid Waste/Recycling Centers. For a schedule of dates, locations and items accepted for household hazardous materials disposal, click here

At our disposal stations the items below have their own specific locations for disposal, so please take this into consideration when loading your vehicle:
Household trash
Construction materials
Iron, metal and tin
Appliances
Aluminum scrap
Tires
Batteries

Both locations open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (no lunch closure) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.

 

Examples of Fees
Household trash – $5 per cubic yard ($5 minimum)
Construction materials – $15 per cubic yard
Refrigerators, air conditioners, all items with compressors – $7 each and up
Washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dishwashers -- $7 each
Twin mattress & box spring sets, recliners, large tables, console TVs -- $5 each
Queen Mattress sets -- $7 each; King mattress sets -- $10 each
Sofas -- $10 each; sleeper sofas -- $15 each
Passenger car tires -- $2 each up to 17”; truck tires -- $6 each; $2 additional each if on rim

Commercial waste is accepted at the Wimberley facility only: $7 per cubic yard, $12 per cubic yard if compacted

Brush and household hazardous materials (paint and other liquids) are NOT accepted at either solid waste location. For a schedule of household hazardous waste collection dates, click here.

State law requires all incoming loads to be completely covered so that no materials blow off or fall off of a vehicle. Violators will be assessed a $10 surcharge.
